Meet Helen Larkey
Helen is a counsellor who specialises in relationships and in particular peoples relationships with food making her a great reference when working towards your health and fitness goals.
Helen holds a Masters degree in Social Science (Counseling) aswell as a certificate from Nature Care College in Sydney.
She enjoys working with individuals, couples and families. She has over thirteen years experience not only as a therapist but also as an academic teaching counselling and communication at Southern Cross University Coffs Harbour, where she was the main counselling lecturer for six years, she has also taught counselling and communication to students of naturopathy. Her background in teaching means that she can teach her clients how to manage conflict and get their needs met through assertive communication. Helen has had a lifelong interest in food and was a professional cook for many years and has always believed that food is medicine.
We often have conflicting thoughts and behaviours towards food and sometimes wonder why we repeat the same self-defeating patterns when we know we could do better but often don’t know how, or where to turn for help.
As a food coach Helen works individually with clients to achieve their goals and to discover what is preventing them living their best life. She will help you discover the emotional reasons why you may be turning to food in times of stress and will give you tools to help correct that.
She believes that everyone has the power within them to change and that the person is not the problem the problem is the problem and working together we can find the solution.
